Day 0

After meeting and greeting at our pickup location in New York City at 2100 hours, we'll hit the road and roll out of town. We stop at a store briefly, perform "the miracle" (conversion of the coach into nighttime sleeping mode) and continue on through the night to the Great Lakes.
Drive Night.

Day 1

Explore Pennsylvania’s only coastline at Presque Isle State Park on the expansive Lake Erie. Relax near the tranquil waters, rent a kayak and explore, or book a smooth excursion through the lush lagoons via pontoon boat. Keep an eye out for some rare species of birds that are protected in the 3,200-acres of National Natural Landmark. Go for a dip in the crisp waters before we head to our campsite in the Allegheny Mountains, a portion of the mighty Appalachians and arrive at our camp on the banks of Willow Bay, part of the Allegheny Reservoir. Go for a swim as you gaze at the forested hills surrounding the lake, or stay dry and hang out with your camera poised -- the area offers excellent wildlife viewing, as well as birding and photography opportunities. It's a beautiful location to enjoy our first gourmet cook-out!
Camp night. Optional Swim. Showers Available.

Day 2

Our morning drive brings us to Niagara Falls, where the Niagara River drains the voluminous Lake Erie into Lake Ontario over the cliffs straddling New York and Canada. Every minute more than six million cubic feet of water crashes over the cliffs! Get up close and personal with the fluvial wonder in the famous Maid of the Mist boat ride or feel the powerful breeze in the Cave of the Winds gorge tour. If you are a land-lover, pull out your passport and collect a new stamp as you walk over the border into Ontario, Canada. After we regroup, we head towards the Windy City.
Drive Night. Showers Available.

Day 3

The Chicago metropolis (which spills into three states) is known as the “Windy City” to its 2.7-million residents. Chicago has something to offer everyone! This is a great opportunity to seek out some of region’s most famous culinary treats like Chicago-style deep dish pizza, Italian beef sandwich, hot dogs and Ferrara Pan Candy. If time allows you may want to absorb the cultural scene at a museum, cruise on an urban boat ride, or hit the breweries. After dinner, board the bus for a peaceful night’s slumber.
Drive Night. Shower Option.

Day 4

In New Ulm, Minnesota we will have a recharge day, relaxing at Flandrau State Park among grassy fields, shady trees, and friendly people. You also have the option of a cold, but refreshing, shower or a dip in the sand-bottom swimming pool (season allowing). You can spend the afternoon relaxing at the park, grabbing a beer at Schell Brewery, doing laundry, or joining the bus for a midday run to stock-up on supplies at a local grocery store. If you are looking for more physical activity, consider the 5-mile trek to downtown New Ulm, a quiet but prosperous town dotted with ornate government buildings and monuments. Around dusk we will have a picnic-style cookout and later saddle up for an overnight drive into the Wild West.
Drive Night. Showers Available.

Day 5

Gaze out the windows for pronghorn this morning as we enter the scenic landscapes of South Dakota’s Badlands National Park, comprised of nearly 250,000 acres of colorful eroding rock layers, pinnacles, and canyons. Learn about the fascinating geology and delicate ecosystem of the badlands at the visitor’s center, and step back into time as you imagine the saber-toothed cat, rhino and horse -- ancient mammals that used to roam this rugged land. Later we’ll indulge in some good old fashioned American shopping. Whether you are looking for a cowboy hat, raccoon-skin hat, or triple-scoop ice cream cone, the comical compound of Wall Drug, the world’s largest drugstore, has just the item for you. After our consumer fill we will head to the bus again as we move towards the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation where a dinner of Indian Tacos at the Cuny Café completes our all-American day. Catch a glimpse of bison as we roam towards camp.
Camp Night. Showers Available.

Day 6

Get ready to cruise one of the most quintessential drives of the United States in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. The Lakota natives coined the term Black Hills for this isolated Midwestern mountain range due to the darkened pine and spruce lined slopes. The scenic drive through the hills leads to the sculpted granitic peaks of Mount Rushmore National Monument, a six-story-high sculpture of four American presidents carved in stone. Later, take a stroll around the rough and tumble history of the gold rush town of Custer before we board our trusty stead and ride towards scenic Colorado—but not without a quirky stop. A flashlight tour of Nebraska’s Carhenge, an automobile homage to pagan Stonehenge, offers a quick stretch and wacky sideshow.
Drive Night. Showers Available.

Day 7

Today you will be awed by the natural wonders of Yellowstone, the world's first national park. Our exploration begins with the multi-hued cliffs at Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Optional hikes lead to further amazing views of the canyon’s Upper and Lower Falls, composing more than 400-feet of combined vertical drop. During today's drive through the grassy subalpine stretches of Hayden Valley, keep your eyes peeled for a possible glimpse of bison, elk, moose, or deer grazing in the surrounding meadows. End the day with a refreshing dip in Yellowstone Lake.
Camp Night. Optional Swim. Showers Available.

Day 8

Yellowstone National Park preserves the most extraordinary collection of mudpots, geysers, hot springs, and fumaroles on Earth! The one square mile within Upper Geyser Basin is the most densely concentrated geyser region in the world, and it includes the legendary spout of Old Faithful. Keep your cameras poised -- not only are some of the geysers consistently timed, but this mountainous terrain is also home to grizzly bears, wolves, and herds of bison and elk. Admire the incredibly unique wildlife scenes during our drive to camp .
Camp Night. Showers Available.

Day 9

Majestic Grand Teton National Park beckons today. Take an easy trek around Jenny Lake and beyond as you explore the area. Forge deep into the Teton Mountain range through Cascade Canyon to the 200 foot tall Hidden Falls, then hike to the dramatic views of the park at Inspiration Point. Or glide on top of the water on a scenic boat tour while learning about the flora and fauna of the area. If you’re feeling more solitary, rent a canoe and sightsee from the water at your own pace. In the evening, we return to our camp at Jackson Lake and enjoy a night of big skies overhead, humbling peaks nearby, and crickets singing us to sleep.
Camp Night. Optional Swim. Showers Available.

Day 10

This morning begins in the Wild West with a stop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where you'll have the option to raft the class III rapids of the Snake River, take a self-guided hike beneath some of the most distinctive mountain peaks on earth, or stroll through a charming frontier town to do a little window shopping and exploring. In the afternoon, towering vistas of the Teton Range will guide us to our camp near the gorgeous, crystal clear waters of Jackson Lake.
Drive Night. Optional Swim.

Day 11

The bizarre landscape of Bryce Canyon National Park is our next Utah destination. This lesser-visited park is home to a brightly layered landscape that rivals the Grand Canyon. Bryce is not actually a true canyon, but instead a series of ampitheaters, small basins that cut into the earth. You can hike to the wind-sculpted “hoodoos,” otherworldly looking spires of rock that rise aside the Rim Trail. The rolling footpath stretches five miles through the lunar-like feel of Fairyland, Inspiration Point and the Queens Garden. Tonight we will camp at Kodachrome Basin State Park. The park was named after the vividly coloured film during a 1948 National Geographic expedition. Here you can absorb the sunlight as it illuminates the girthy spire and enjoy one of the most enchanting places to bathe out in the moonlight at our campsite.
Camp Night. Showers Available.

Day 12

The dramatic landscape of Zion National Park is our next Utah destination. We’ll roll into the brilliantly-banded sandstone canyons where you can explore the beautiful park with the free shuttle bus that offers a multitude of stops. Stretch your legs with an exhilarating hike to Angel’s Landing and be rewarded with sweeping views of Zion, or take a short walk to witness the miracle of raindrops cascading directly from the sandstone arch of Weeping Rock. Remember to bring your camera to photograph the hanging gardens, flowers and greenery suspended from the surrounding thin cracks and crevices! Wade the legendary Zion Narrows, where the north fork of the Virgin river has etched and carved its way through copper-colored sandstone creating a stunning slot canyon with walls 2,000 feet (610 meters) high and narrowing to 20 feet (6 meters) across. If you’d simply like to cool your heels, splash around in the beautiful Virgin River before our camp-out under the stars.
Camp Night. Optional Swim.

Day 13

Start the day with a hike to the rim for views of sheer sandstone cliffs at Zion or take a revitalizing morning dip in the Virgin River before we leave nature behind and drive towards the neon of Sin City. It's time for our last night out in the big city glitz of Las Vegas, Nevada! You can travel in style with a limousine tour of the Las Vegas Strip, see the celebrated acrobats of Cirque du Soleil, or get pumped full of adrenaline when you ride the thrilling sky-high roller coasters on top of the Stratosphere Tower. At the Bellagio cool off in the mist from the fountains and marvel at the lobby ceiling made of glass-blown Chihuly sculptures. For a taste of old Vegas admire the spectacle of light at the legendary Fremont Street Experience or try your luck playing roulette at the Golden Nugget. After you’ve had your fill of Vegas, board the bus for a well-needed sleep while rolling towards San Francisco.
Drive Night.

Day 14

Our amazing cross country tour ends today in San Francisco.

This epic journey across America takes you from the shores of the east coast to the mountains of the west.  We’ll venture to famous landmarks and experience the thunderous roar of Niagara Falls, a desert sunset at Arches National Park, the magnificent granite sculptures of Mount Rushmore, and more!  We'll also travel to lesser-known locations like Mystic Hot Springs, the white dunes of the Badlands, and the hoodoos of Kodachrome campground.
